 It’s a long way from playing clarinet in her primary school band and singing in the choir to the December 2005 release of her debut self-titled EP, produced by masterful musician Bill Chambers. That’s just part of the road Katie Brianna has travelled.
Its been quite a whirlwind musical ride for Katie, developing her passion for Country Music, influenced by Kasey Chambers, and the 2000 Christmas gift of her first guitar, she was soon a regular at Tamworth Country Music Festival, making the most of every performance opportunity.
Via her membership of Steel City Country Music club, she met Bill Chambers, eventually resulting in the current recording – 4 original songs produced by Bill, and backed by such wonderfully talented players as James Gillard, Mick Albeck and Bill Chambers himself.
Katie’s songwriting has progressed at a fast rate also, recently highlighted by a top 5 Musicoz 2005 placing for a song from her EP “Guiding Hand”. Further proof of this comes in the form of another finalist berth, in the 2005 ISC International Songwriting Competition for her song “The Devil Came Back for You”. She has that unique skill termed “a wonderful turn of phrase” in her songwriting.
A graduate of the 2004 youth Country Music school Tamworth Camerata, Katie Brianna won her way to the Telstra Road to Tamworth Grand Final in 2005 and 2006. She not only sings beautifully and writes great songs, she also plays guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and some banjo.
Katie’s major musical influences include Bill & Kasey Chambers and Iris DeMent. Recently, she has supported in concert The Flood and Feral Swing Katz. A proud milestone for Katie was to be chosen by Paul Kelly to record a song he wrote for an Australian film ‘Jindabyne’, due for release early in 2006.
Katie Brianna is a charming young lady destined for a highly successful musical career, as a very skilful and remarkable singer/songwriter, and well worth having an in-depth listen to!
